According the El Dorado County Sheriff someone shot at and hit a El Dorado High School bus near Camino. It was a small caliber gun that was used. There were seventeen students on the bus at the time of the shooting.

The bus was heading westbound on a winding road near Camino at around 2:30 when the incident occurred. The shooting happened just after the bus passed a dark green Jeep Cherokee, however it was not clear if the Jeep was involved.
