Homicide Suspect Arrested after Brief Standoff
Earlier this afternoon, Sheriff’s detectives arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of a man at an apartment complex in north Sacramento County last week. Patrick Godines, 26, was taken into custody and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for murder. He is ineligible for bail at this time.
On July 29, 2011, at about 12:15 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls of a man who had been shot in an apartment in the 5700 block of Manzanita Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim, later identified as Michael Sanderson, 54, was transported to a hospital and later died of his injuries.
Investigation into this homicide led detectives to the identification of Godines as a suspect in this incident. Godines was believed to be at a home in the 7400 block of Stella Way. Upon detectives’ arrival at that residence this afternoon, two males and a small child were contacted, and exited the home. Detectives confirmed at that time that Godines was inside. Detectives surrounded the home and called Godines out. After waiting inside for approximately thirty minutes, Godines exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.

Earlier this morning, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Manzanita Avenue in north Sacramento. Upon their arrival, deputies were directed to an apartment where they discovered a male adult in his 50’s. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Deputies contacted a man who informed them that he had been at the apartment when the shooting took place. This witness stated that after knocking on the door of the apartment, two males forced their way inside. The witness was knocked to the ground and detained by one suspect, while the other suspect confronted the victim in another room of the house. The witness heard a gunshot, and then the two suspects fled from the apartment. The witness gave chase, but was unable to catch them. Upon returning to the apartment, the witness discovered that the victim had been shot.

Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the woman pictured in the video surveillance images, attached. Detectives would like to speak with her pursuant to an incident that occurred earlier today, in which a shooting claimed the life of a man at a north Sacramento area apartment complex.
Earlier this morning, at about 12:15 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Groves Apartments in the 5700 block of Manzanita Avenue, in response to calls of a man that had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies found a male adult inside an apartment. He had sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a nearby hospital, and pronounced dead a short time later.

In what is almost a daily news event, Sacramento Police are investigating another shooting. This time a 29-year-old male was shot and killed in his Canterbury Road hotel room.
A disturbance was reported at the hotel. A short time later officers arrived and found a broken window of one room with the victim deceased inside. The subject who shot the male was detained at the scene.

Murder in the Sacramento area are nothing new, but we did not even make it through the first day of the year before someone was killed.
Sacramento police said two men were found in the backyard of a home in the 2100 block of Amanda Way, early Saturday morning. Both men had head trauma. One man was dead at the scene the other man was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Most weekends we see some sort of shooting or other violence in Sacramento and this weekend was no different. On Saturday two were shot in a drive-by shooting. One of the teens has died.
The shooting victims were walking on Wittkop Way near Clinton Road when a vehicle drove stopped and one person got out, firing multiple shots at the teens.

The popular Sacramento event, Second Saturday, end in deadly gunfire leaving one dead and the injured. According to police the victim was an hispanic man in his early 20′s. The man was shot on J Street, between 18th and 19th Streets.
Sacramento Police Sgt. Norm Leong said that Sacramento City Police officers had responded to a fight in the area, and still had a heavy presence when the gunfire broke out. Leong says a second victim is in serious condition and a third victim has non-life threatening wounds. The condition of the fourth victim is still not known.
At this point, police say they’re not sure if there were one more more shooters. Second Saturday is an event that focuses on art galleries, live music, food and drink. It’s grown in scope since its beginning and attracts thousands of people to downtown Sacramento.

Three brothers have been arrested in the May shooting death of a 29-year-old man at a Sacramento motel. Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives say the three brothers were with the alleged gunman when he shot Marcel Hatch in the abdomen on May 8th. The alleged shooter, 25-year-old Charles Antonio Williams, was arrested on May 11.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Tim Curran says 18-year-old Kenyatta Mays, 27-year-old Lorenzo Jesus Mays and 30-year-old Demetrius Wayne Mays were arrested Thursday night and are being held in the county jail on one count of murder each.
They were allegedly passengers in Williams’ vehicle when he went to confront Hatch at the Eco Lodge after a fight.

A 12-year-old Sacramento girl was hit by a stray bullet yesterday morning. Sacramento police the girls was wounded by the stray bullet while walking home from a park.
Sgt. Norm Leong says the girl was shot in the upper leg around 9:30 p.m. Monday. According to officers the girls was treated at a hospital and her wound is not considered life-threatening. Leong says she was hit by a bullet as people in a gold SUV and a brown van traded gunfire on 77th Street in south Sacramento.

Sacramento County sheriff deputies are looking for a gunman who fired shots at them this morning. Deputies were called to a home on Mendocino Boulevard around 2am. They were there to deal with a complaint of drinking and load music.
When the deputies arrived they found the man drinking in the backyard. When they confronted the man he took four or five shots at the deputies. The deputies also arrested three people on outstanding warrants. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s department these people are not cooperating.
