On Sunday Jim Cooper’s supporter rand a deceptive ad against Scott Jones. Both men are running for Sacramento County Sheriff.
The full-page ad was run in The Sacramento Bee. The ads was run in reference to and FBI investigation that was linked to Jones’ acceptance in 2000 of office space from a J Street bail bonds company. The FBI investigation found no wrong doing on the part of Scott Jones.
The ad appears to be nothing more than last minute mud slinging by Jim Cooper’s supporters.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is still in the red and is looking at more budget cuts. The department faces $37.6 million in budget cuts which is down from the original $55 million they had proposed. The Sheriff’s Department may need to cut an additional 250 positions. The department cut 122 sheriff’s deputies last summer due to budget cuts. Mid-year cuts included laying off four more deputies, shutting down the sheriff’s training academy, and stopping the emergency training facility. The new round of cuts may include patrols officers, investigations personnel, and correctional deputies. Additional inmates may also be released to save costs.
