Sacramento State police have so far been unable to protect female students on campus. This is the realization by many after a fifth report of a sexual assault since September 13th.

After the latest assault the police have stepped up patrols. Many are asking why did it take five sexual assaults for police to start stepping up patrols. According to Sacramento State police the increased patrols are occurring between the hours of 5 p.m. and 11 p.m.

The Sacramento State Student that beat to death roommate Scott Hawkins has been charged with murder.  Quran Jones is accused of killing his dormitory roommate Scott Hawkins on October 21^st 2009.

Quran Jones is accused is using a baseball bat in the violent beating death.  After the beating death Jones was found and brandishing a knife.  Sacramento State police officers shot Jones who unfortunately survived.   Jones remains at the UC Davis Medical Center in good condition.  Jones faces one count of murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
