Sacramento’s First Murder of 2011

Murder in the Sacramento area are nothing new, but we did not even make it through the first day of the year before someone was killed.

Sacramento police said two men were found in the backyard of a home in the 2100 block of Amanda Way, early Saturday morning. Both men had head trauma. One man was dead at the scene the other man was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

The last murder of 2010 occurred just up the street from the first murder of 2011. A teenager is dead and a gunman on the loose in South Sacramento and there are no leads. The shooting occurred at the 7400 block of 29th Street just before 10 p.m., Friday. When police arrived they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the head.

There has been no connection made between the two murders at this time.

Another shooting in Sac? That is NOT surprising. I live in Folsom, and I’m constantly hearing about shootings. What the hell is wrong with us?!
