Due to funding reductions from both the County and City of Sacramento, Sacramento Public Library will be implementing one furlough day per month as a cost containment measure. Staff will be furloughed without pay and all Sacramento Public Libraries will be closed to the public on Tuesday, July 3.
Also, all Sacramento Public Library locations will be closed Wednesday, July 4 for the Independence Day holiday observance. Library telephone services will also be unavailable on these dates; however, the library’s website (www.saclibrary.org) is available 24/7 to request and renew materials, pay overdue fines, download eBooks, and apply for a library card.
“We apologize in advance for the inconvenience created by closing our facilities. Taking this step has been difficult for staff and the Sacramento Public Library Authority Board, but necessary in order to weather the current economic climate,” said Rivkah K. Sass, library director.“We look forward to continuing to engage and connect our communities, and helping them develop a lifelong love of learning,” Sass added.
