Sacramento police officers took a group of kids shopping on Sunday. Dozens of kids went to Target in Natomas for their Christmas shopping. It was part of the “Sacramento Family Holiday” event. There were a total of 15 families that attended. Each family received about $200 each to purchase toys, clothes, and other items from the store. Then they all headed to Sofia’s Italian Restaurant in Sacramento.
According to Daniel Hahn of the Sacramento Police Department , the families were chosen by local school principals and community leaders for their contribution to the community and for doing what they’ve done despite the financially challenging times. The hope is to help spread holiday cheer to families who could use it, said Hahn.
Target made the grant of $2,500 to make the event possible. In all about 70 kids were able to shop for their families during the event.
