Sacramento homeless will have shelters this winter

Sacramento Mayor Johns has a solution to the homeless problem, or at least where 269 of them will sleep this winter. Johnson said , “Here in Sacramento, we are choosing not to close our eyes anymore. Fortunately, we have many people who are willing to step forward and find practical solutions.” His plans do require Sacramento City Council and Sacramento County Board of Supervisor’s approval, which is expected next week.

Johnson said with funding from the federal government, county, city, local service providers and private donations the city of Sacramento can provide 269 beds this winter. Johnson said that we will be providing more beds at a lower cost than we did at Cal Expo last winter. There is even a plan to get 100 families off the street permanently.

  1. Bravo, Mr. Mayor. How can we (Sacramento residents) help you achieve this goal? Town meeting time.
