The greater Sacramento area is scheduled for a big storm this week. Some are even touting this as the biggest October storm in decades. We could see winds between 40 and 45 MPH along with about 2 inches of rain.
Snow will fall in the Sierra starting at about 7,500 feet elevation. When you get up to 8,000 to 9,000 feet we may see winds as high as 100 MPH. Most of the wind will be concentrated to Tuesday afternoon and continue throughout the day.
Sacramento city crews were chain-sawing trees and sweeping branches out of gutters today trying to prepare for the fall storm. ”I heard on the radio that they said it’s been like 50 years since we’ve had something like this,” Sacramento utility worker Tom Enderwitz said. The California Emergency Management Agency is also getting ready. The agency’s Rancho Cordova operations center will be activated and have staff in place by Tuesday. Cal Fire said it is in the process of setting up sandbagging stations in fire areas, including scorched parts of Auburn that were affected by the 49 Fire.
Today is the day to finish getting ready for the storm. It’s time to secure any lightweight items in your yards. Halloween decorations maybe lost if you don’t pull them in today. Cleaning out gutters is a lso a good idea when we are getting a great deal of rain in a short period. Don’t park under tree, especially downtown where falling tree are common place.

We are ready, but too bad I need to head out. Drivers do not know how to drive in the rain.
I tend to agree.
It has been crazy downtown. I watched a car get creammed from a falling branch
It's been a good one today. Everyone stay safe.
