The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists to expect ongoing nighttime construction work to repair and resurface Interstate 80 from west of Mace Boulevard to east of Richards Boulevard in Davis.
Construction work has been scheduled weeknights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for westbound Interstate 80 and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for eastbound Interstate 80. Weekend construction work is scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for both directions.
The $2.4 million project, awarded to Teichert Construction of Sacramento, will repair and rehabilitate the roadway for Interstate 80 about a mile and a half west of the Yolo Causeway by using rubberized open-grade asphalt for improved drainage and a smoother ride. Completion is expected by late 2012.
Roadside message boards will be used to post the latest information. Unexpected weather may prolong or cause the work to be rescheduled. Caltrans urges motorists to use caution in this area and to “Slow for the Cone Zone”.
