Organizers say they have been forced to cancel the annual Santa Parade held on Thanksgiving weekend because of lack of money.
Parade organizer Laurie Hensley says it’s the first cancellation in the event’s 26-year history. Organizers were $15,000 short for stages, sound equipment and cash prizes for parade participants. Sixty groups were scheduled to take part in the parade, including school bands, youth groups and equestrian organizations.
I guess it’s a sign of the times. It sad to see our county waste $767,000 for a worthless rabbit and the city can not come up with an additional $15,000 for something that a lot of people enjoy. Our priorities are really screwed up!
