Sacramento news agency News10.net is not publishing stories about a single resident traveling to Saudi Arabia and the fact that he will wear a face mask in “very very crowded areas”. Sacramento has now joined the nation in their H1N1 frenzy.
Most health professionals are recommending getting vaccinated so take their advice. Also keep in mind that the odds of you dying from H1N1 or Swine Flu is about 0.0000000018 to 1. In other words don’t listen the media hype, get vaccinated and move on to things that actually matter in life.
Here is the News10.net story:
The H1N1 virus is a major concern worldwide, especially with the large population of people making the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, also known as the Hajj.
One Sacramento man left Wednesday for Saudi Arabia — and has taken all the extra precautions.
Anwar Ali booked his trip of a lifetime in July. He and his wife will join the nearly 2.5 million Muslims expected to travel to Mecca this month. The pilgrimage is one of the five pillars of Islam.
As important as the trip is to many Muslims, health officials are worried about the large numbers and how close they will all be. Ali said he’s gotten his seasonal flu shot and he’s prepared.
“I bought some masks to put over my face in very very crowded areas. I keep having my mask all the time. I also have sanitizers to keep wiping my hands.” said Ali.
The Saudi Arabian government is offering H1N1 vaccine to many people making the pilgrimage.

Hello,
It is easy to say that we should not overreact to the HINI virus and I agreed until I had to go get my 6 year old son from school because he was sick and the staff told me that one of the children had been sent home earlier that day with the H!NI. I have to admit that it freaks me out a little to see my son laying on the couch vomiting. I imagine that most parents in Sacramento would feel the same way.
I don't disagree that as a parent you should be concerned. Two of my three kids have had it. It's the media's reaction that is overblown. Take care of your little one and don't let the media scare tactics work on you.
