On a follow up to our earlier story, it has now been determined that the man killed this morning on Highway 99 was 49-year-old Robert M. Alverson of Sacramento
Mr. Alverson was simply being a good Samaritan when he was killed. The 5 car wreck occurred on the northbound side of the freeway just north of Mack Road shortly after 5 a.m. Alverson stopped on the shoulder to assist a driver who had hit the median.
The driver who hit Alverson is suspected of being under the influence. He was taken to a hospital, where he was cited and released. The name of the driver who was cited has not been released.
