Foreclosure Rates Force Elk Grove to Redraw School Lines

Elk Grove parents are upset that their kids may need to move schools. The Elk Grove School Districk is the largest in Sacramento county. The district has a large number of foreclosures are well. This may force the district to change school boundaries.

The school board wants to change the boundary lines of five elementary schools, so when the kids get to their high school years they’ll move to a different school than previous students. On the list: Fite Elementary students may go to Sheldon High, Elliot Ranch Elementary kids will face a five mile commute to Cosumnes Oaks High, and Carroll Elementary students will head to Franklin High.

“We believe this move will be the best for the entire school district.” Elizabeth Graswich with the Elk Grove School District says the district will take it’s time before changing so many lives. The proposal was to go into effect this Fall, but now the board will do more research before approving the deal. This will give parents a year, but the district will make the changes even though parents are upset.
