Developer dollars make businesses disappear at least for Sacramento County staff. Looks like a developer has told the Sacramento County Planning Department that an entire shopping center did not exist. The developer was there to save the day with their new construction project. The county could not see past the dollar to see that an entire shopping complex already existed. I love this quote from the Sacramento Bee article.
In addition, that same environmental report offered erroneous conclusions based on the “invisibility” factor. Claims are made that, with the approval of the project, the community will produce 33 percent less carbon emissions, because, according to the document: “Rancho Murieta currently does not have an anchor supermarket, commercial center or retail shops for residents. Thus, they must by default travel to Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Sacramento and potentially beyond to simply go to a grocery store.”
Looks like Rancho Murieta Online got a hold of the story. It will be interesting to see how the Rancho Murieta residents feels about shopping at a grocery store that does not exist. You really don’t matter in the eyes of the Sacramento County Planners unless you come with a check. Good thing Google knows the store is there. Maybe the county does not have access to Google Maps.
