Stabbing and murder are apparently not a serious crime in the eyes of Arnold Schwarzenegger. One of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s last official acts was to commute the manslaughter sentence of the son of former state Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez.

Esteban Nuñez, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for his role in the October 2008 stabbing death of college student Luis Dos Santos near San Diego State, had his prison term commuted to seven years by the governor.

Sacramento Pilot Wants to Come Out of Shadows

Last month a Sacramento area pilot took a series of videos showing the lack of security at our nation’s airports. He posted the videos to Youtube. The pilot was then reprimanded by the TSA.

The videos show how ground crews at San Francisco International Airport were able to access secure areas with ease. “As you can see, airport security is kind of a farce. It’s only smoke and mirrors so you people believe there is actually something going on here,” the pilot narrates on one of the videos.

The pilot says he has worked for his airline for over 10 years. He also served as an Army reserve helicopter test pilot. He was deputized by the TSA to carry a gun in the cockpit. The pilot wanted to do what he could to draw attention to what he says is still a major problem in airport security.

Sacramento County Misses an Entire Supermarket

Who can hide a grocery store under a plastic cup? The Sacramento County Planning Commission and Doug Weile of Foothill Partners can.

Planning Commissioners JOE DEBBS, ALEX LAIEWSKI, PATRICK MAXFIELD, GREG PETERSON, and HOWARD YEE should be ashamed of themselves. One-by-one, they voted. And one-by-one, they set their nail in the coffin that will always be known as Plaza Foods. I had to ask myself how such a decision came to be…. how could each man knowingly cast a vote that will destroy a local small business?

Petition Fails to Save Massive Butternut Tree

Petition Fails to Save Massive Butternut Tree

Crews in West Sacramento chopped down an 125-year-old butternut tree to make room for a “high-density” business, shopping and residential development, despite a resident’s bid to save the tree in Yolo County Superior Court.

In her July petition seeking to block the tree’s removal, Lana Paulhamus said the city “is responsible for assuring that our natural resources are not destroyed willy-nilly.” Arborists told the Sacramento Bee that the tree, with its 22-foot trunk, was “one of the largest in the region and perhaps the biggest butternut tree in the United States.” They reportedly said the tree was “in fair to good condition and would live 20 to 40 years more with moderate care.”
