Sutter nurses staged a one day walkout last week and one person is allegedly dead because of it. A female patient at an Oakland hospital died due to what the hospital described as a “medical error” made while she was under the care of a replacement nurse hired during a labor dispute.
Sutter Health was forced to hire replacement nurses on five-day contracts, because union nurses refused to come to work on Thursday. The unions choice to put their own needs before patients is coming under fire. The replacement nurse would not have been hired if the union nurses did not walk away from their jobs.

Esteban Nuñez, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for his role in the October 2008 stabbing death of college student Luis Dos Santos near San Diego State, had his prison term commuted to seven years by the governor.
