Sheriff’s deputies say three young women found dead in a car near the Squaw Valley ski resort were apparently the victims of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. The car’s engine was running Tuesday when a security guard found the bodies of 22-year-old Lacey Louann Sutton of Marysville, 21-year-old Sara Alice McCullah of Marysville and a 17-year-old girl from Loma Rica. The name of the 17-year-old was not released.

Police say a Wal-Mart worker has died after being trampled by a throng of unruly shoppers shortly after the Long Island store opened Friday. Nassau County police said the 34-year-old worker was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 6 a.m., an hour after the store opened. Police also said a 28-year-old pregnant woman was taken to a hospital for observation.

Okay not Sacramento related, but I still want to share.  Yesterday we took the kids to Golden Gate Park. We primarily visited the Japanese Tea Garden, the Botanical Garden, and the de Young Museum. Along with being crazy kids we try and give them a little culture too. Everything was very interesting and the weather was great. The toll for crossing the Golden Gate Bridge is going up again.  The $1 increase approved Friday by the board of that oversees the famous span goes into effect on September 1.  Drivers using cash will pay $6, and those using the electronic payment system FasTrak pay $5.
The extra income from the increase will be used to erase the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District’s $91 million deficit.

I love spring time in Sacramento.  Everything is so green, the flowers are blooming, and the weather is still reasonable.  I took a few pictures today of the rose garden in Capitol Park.  Got to love all the colors.

In a post last week I criticized craigslist for being home to some less than scrupulous individuals. Well I had a few comments that were in support of craigslist and made good points. I also had a whole slew of comments that I refuse to post primarily because of the language involved. Thanks to so many for making my point.

Do you post on craigslist?  Do you read craigslist?  The site is well known in many circles, but it just seems to be a trash pit to me.  I take a look at sacramento.craigslist.org every once in a while and have only looked at other cities a few times. With all of the issues surrounding safety it seems to me craigslist is a haven for thieves, scammers, spammers, and molesters.  Is there something I am missing?  Is there an area of Sacramento’s craigslist that is worth my time?
