$25,000 per plate fundraiser for Whitman

Union members protested a Meg Whitman fundraiser last night in downtown Sacramento. The California Labor Federation is upset with Meg Whitman for having a $25,000 per plate fundraiser. 50 people protested outside the Elks Building. Meanwhile, another 25 people turned out for the fundraising dinner.

The unions are accustomed to buying politicians and are having a tough time with Meg Whitman because she is not for sale. Jerry Brown who is running against Whitman has been supported by the big unions for a long time.

Sacramento Election Results

The polls closed at 8pm yesterday, but vote counting continued late into the night. While some of the results of the close races will not officially be known for days, most of the races are decided. Here are some of the highlights.

Meg Whitman is the Republican nominee for Governor, winning easily over Steve Poizner. She will meet up with Jerry Brown in November. U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina will face off with Barbara Boxer. Proving not all elections can be bought, PG&E backed prop 16 went down in flames.
