Some people say cats have nine lives, and so might a turkey that not only avoided the dinner table but also a truck crash that killed many of its brethren. The bird fell from a truck Nov. 18 shortly before the rig crashed on Highway 16 just west of Dillard Road.

The Rusty Duck, the longtime Sacramento restaurant backed up to the American River off Interstate 5, hung up its oyster shuckers and closed its doors this week. Workers were notified of the closure Tuesday by the corporation that owns the restaurant, Houston-based Landry’s Restaurants, which largely specializes in seafood eateries such as the Chart House and Joe’s Crab Shack.

Fins restaurant has already closed on 55 Degrees is also shutting their doors. Owner Ali Mackani made the decision last week to close 55 Degrees. Among his reasons are the rising cost of ingredients, overhead and the fact the slowdown in the economy has hit restaurants particularly hard. A 61-year-old Sacramento gourmet market run by an internationally known wine expert may stay open after all. A rival grocery is dropping its claim on the building that has housed Corti Brothers since 1970. Darrell Corti still doesn’t have a new lease with his landlord, however. That leaves the market’s future uncertain.

The guides, published by Zagat Survey LLC, have long been a dining staple in several large metro areas and are widely regarded as the “food and travel bible” by travel publications. It looks like Zagat will be coming to Sacramento.
Zagat Survey will add Sacramento to its annual America’s Top Restaurants guide, which surveys locals diners about the best restaurants in dozens of American cities. Starting May 15, Zagat.com will launch a section on its Web site for Sacramentans to vote for their favorite restaurants. Voting will continue through June …

I sure have, all over my car all of the time. I understand a need to advertise. I do it myself for several of my sites.
Azukar Lounge continues to put full page flyers on my car in midtown. At least a couple times per week I find a new flyer on my windshield. I am now at the point that I will never eat at Azukar because they have annoyed me with their advertising practices.

We seem to favor burger places or at least those are the places I blog about. Well I found another place that can be added to my favorite burger places in the Sacramento area, Jim Denny’s. They are located at 816 12th St.
My favorite burger joints in Sacramento are The Squeeze Inn and Ford’s Hamburgers; now I can add Jim Denny’s. I had their Super Burger with mushrooms, fries, and a large soda for $11.25, which is a bit high IMO. The meat was quite good and the mushrooms were …

At least at one McDonald’s. Today we headed over to McDonald’s at 3006 K STREET for some food off the dollar menu and there it was a sign for the McRib. I think today is Christmas is Sacramento. I love those sandwiches.
