California State University sued by taxpayer group

The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is suing the California State University over an email. Professor Ernest Stromberg sent email telling his students they will face higher fees and fewer classes if Prop. 30 fails. Under state law state offices are prohibited from promoting political causes using state equipment.

“This campaign mailing violates the constitutional rights of taxpayers and students whose tax dollars and student fees are being misused to promote a political cause which they do not support,” said a statement from Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.

California State University said the email “was inappropriate and unfortunate.” and they are “taking appropriate personnel action.”
